One of my favourite things to do is get screamed at by middle-aged men. Here are Blood Incantation, Oranssi Pazuzu, and Sijjin screaming at the Albert Hall last night. Blood Incantation played the whole of the brilliant Absolute Elsewhere, plus a bunch of deeper cuts. It was all very enjoyable

Will put on my CV:

Producer on Wipeout*

*know someone who taught someone who was briefly involved with the development of Wipeout

As in the broadcaster? She went to my sixth form! Does that mean I have, like, 3 degrees of separation from Wipeout?

Hahaha that's very kind (I'm assuming it's a compliment!), thank you. But it's Edge; every review is intellectually driven! The last one I did was Dune
apechalin.bsky.social
Haha. I reckon you can guess. Have you been able to guess in the past?

Hey, look, I'm in this one with a review

Edge 416 is out now, featuring IO Interactive’s 007: First Light. For our 14-page cover story, we visit the studio to discover how its Hitman legacy paved the way, what it’s taking from the rich history of the iconic movie series, and the challenge of creating a new James Bond.

Read an article about how AI might be like the dot com bubble. At the end it said it was written by AI and then checked and refined by a journalist. I can't work out if that's ironic, or depressing, or good productivity, or what

My daughter's school awards points on an app for good behaviour. One half of me hates the gamefication and metricisation of everything, especially my children. The other half is imagining shoving other parents' faces into the app while screaming, "I am going to bury you underground"

"Git gud, son, I am disappoint"

Hot take: the golden age of TV drama is over; the golden age of TV science fiction has begun

One of the great things about listening to game soundtracks is that you will hear some amazing bit of composition, then you'll look up the title and it'll be called "Sewers" or "E3 Trailer Music"

If the Luddites were today, I wonder if they would have to put up with dozens of LinkedIn posts each day explaining how good and how terrible power looms are

Are you a game developer who, when faced with the prospect of making layoffs, found another way forward for their studio instead? If so, I'd love to speak to you for GamesIndustry.Biz. We're working on an article with the working title, 'You don't always have to make people redundant'. Get in touch!

Omg, wtf! Clearly I should have held on to mine

Is this the one that had a resales black market?
apechalin.bsky.social
And yeah, exactly. I got sucked in purely on the strength of the prose. The gameplay is very good - there is a lot of emergent behaviour that can get completely absurd - but I'm just here for the Gene Wolfe vibes and the nice writing

Hahaha it's the purple skibidi, John. Or something

*item
**Purple prose

Sorry
apechalin.bsky.social
Yeah, it's fantastic. The basic gimmick is that you can "look" at every time, and each item has a description in gorgeous prose. And given it's ASCII-like, you have to do this if you want to get a decent sense of what the world is like. Sometimes it verges on purple, but it's always good

Some of the best prose I've ever come across in a videogame, and some captivating world-building. Well deserved
