Fair points, but does it have to be on Dec 24/25? How much more exciting would it be to receive a gift on a random Tuesday in June? There is no expectation then so would be more memorable. It's not the gift giving I am opposed to, it's the indoctrination kids are given into the cult of consumerism.

Controversial take,but once a child no longer believes in Santa there is no need to buy gifts for anyone, the magic is over. All you are doing is indoctrinating them to spend money at the end of the year just to make the merchants richer. Give time and experiences, not cheap things wrapped in paper

Ace Frehley was a major influence for many guitarists, including myself. If it wasn't for Ace I may never have picked up a guitar in the first place. As a young lad of only 9 seeing Ace playing on the Midnight Special cemented it for me. Rest in peace Ace, you will be missed.
