Lots of people sharing this clip because it's funny and cathartic but I also genuinely believe it's important.

We have to win the narrative battle between "I live in a corrupt society and that's just how it is" and "I live in a corrupt society and we are going to defeat and humiliate these ghouls."
Good morning to Brazilian reporter Manuela Borges, who’s been waiting eleven years for this petty moment. ❤️ 🇧🇷

Pavey Ark are more of a thing than some people. They began as a solo project for Neil Thomas, who after a couple of false starts began riding the non-existent wave of East Yorkshire Americana, releasing Close Your Eyes And Think of Nothing in 2020 to a somewhat bemused public. It's follow up has been a very long time in the making for a number of reasons, not least of which being that over time the collective has been adding instruments and people who play them, the most recent of which has been a horn section.

Suicide linked to gambling causes the deaths of hundreds of young men a year - and yet we allow advertising to mercilessly exploit them and accept their worthless concessions on messaging. It's absolutely vile.

And no, I'm not saying you can't have a sweep on the National 🙄.
A billion-pound jump in gambling income in a single year is not a success story — it’s a warning. We need stronger taxes and urgent action to protect people from an industry built on addiction.

Lots of commentary on the #budget this morning - like I imagine many fair minded people, I don’t mind paying more in tax if public services improve and there’s more opportunity for young people. Oh, and American corporations pay their share.

Brògeal at the Brude tonight. A slightly sketchy cover of There She Goes, but very lively down the front at the end.

100 Greatest Songs of the 20’s So Far #23 Cardi B ft. Megan Thee Stallion – WAP
Released: 2020 The argument about what pop fundamentally is and isn't will rage on for as long as it exists. If you want to play it straight down the line then WAP is popular - currently around the 1.5 billion streams mark give or take, but if as a purist it's all about audience then quite clearly, it all depends on what you perceive pop's audience to be.

Midlake – A Bridge To Far review
Before they set to work on their sixth album, Midlake as a collective had a band meeting. Amongst the topics for discussion it seemed were fundamental principles; singer Eric Pulido revealing afterwards "I wrote (the album’s first single) The Ghouls after a conversation within our camp about everyone’s respective goals." The desired approach to him anyway seemed to be clear, a job where "The temptation to demonize the realities or challenges that exist and yet to face them head on and create something extraordinary."

I haven’t seen anything this rattled since the 1956 cup final.
DF: "He represents so many skills we want for Leeds United. He works his socks off, gives everything for the team, relentless work, not perfect, but gives always everything. It's more than unfair. In his last three performances, he was always covering 13km per game." #lufc
