Even the plaque at West Point says specifically that "should orders and the law ever conflict" those orders are invalid. According to Trump, that plaque is seditious treason. Or he is just admitting some of his orders are illegal?

You don't have to be ashamed of the oppressive parts of US history. If we see all Americans as our people, including indigenous and African Americans, we may feel sad about history, but knowing history is about changing the future.

There's no "free market" competition when one side has all the power and the other side is being told "your money or your life" to get healthcare and "your labor or your life" to get food. Those are muggings, not market transactions.

In #UniversalHealthcare private companies offer alternatives to public insurance, but profits are capped at 3-5%. Denials are unheard of. Companies must spend their earnings on healthcare. And if not, they lower premiums.

Basic #economic governance: If you give money to the wealthy, they just have a bigger cushion. If you give money to the poor, they spend it and grow the #economy 3 to 4 times more. "Conservative" #economists know this basic law of their #science. They just don't like it.

A family, all US citizens, pepper-sprayed by ICE in a parking lot. No reason given, no detention, just cruelty. The 1-year-old couldn't open her eyes and struggled to breathe. She and her asthmatic father were briefly hospitalized.

When those who've had advantages since birth see someone hungry or homeless and exhausted from years of low-wage toil, they assume that person didn't work. I'm so tired of hearing about work from those who've done so little of it.

Something to keep in mind. While food pantries are needed, much of the food they provide is heavily processed and not very #healthy. When they provide #fresh #food, it is often stale and partly moldy. There are a few items in a #FoodPantry I could eat with my medical diet.

I live in a very red town, so I hear from MAGA folks. They say it's too bad we can't afford healthcare and food as a country. "Money doesn't grow on trees." They get real quiet when I mention the things frump an afford.

#SNAP is run by the Department of Agriculture. That's because it was originally a scheme to help #farmers--by increasing demand. Food stamps help the whole #economy, not just the #hungry people. It's like a bit "trickle-down" theory, except it actually works.
