One thing I've learned coming up with lore for my own characters is how little of it is actual in your hands. Your character is going to do what he's going to do and feel what he wants to feel. It doesn't matter if it's cliche as long as it's true to the character.

For the most part, thankfully, Reydiah has managed to stay "just a character" for the most part. Jake, meanwhile, is fully renting space in my head. I legitimately feel what his emotions and thoughts would be when certain characters are brought up, which is slightly disturbing, but I'm used to it.

Jake and Lyse spend a lot of time sparring with each other, so they're well attuned to each other on the battlefield, knowing each other's rhythms and movements well enough to coordinate in a way that makes it hard for enemies to keep track of both of them at once.
