For me as a game designer, it’s super important to remember this: the player base of a game is WAY bigger (and way less aware of fandom/industry drama) than social media leads one to think.
It's easy to get lulled into a false perception if you're at all keyed into online fan discussion. They just don't resemble the larger player base, like even a little.

My D&D party spent a half hour *after* session arguing about what to do with a sus NPC. Some think she is a hag, others think she is an innocent wizard.
I think this is a sign I am doing something right in my character design 😈

I love that I buy loads of games like I'm a squirrel storing nuts for the winter that I just keep stock piling to which I don't get around to playing immediately if at all. I'm just a little squirrel sitting on a lot of nuts. I do love nuts.
