you can love a character and still admit when they're wrong. we love Iris but we can acknowledge her flaws (she has none) and we can hold her accountable for her wrongdoings (she has never done anything wrong in her life) and call her out on her actions (which are always correct)

What 1000xRESIST is not:
❌ a game with combat
❌ an emotionally cozy game
❌ a super quick story

What 1000xRESIST is:
✅ a doomed yuri simulator
✅ a game that will break your heart (and maybe not put it back together)
✅ a story you won’t forget anytime soon

Get it for 30% off right now! ⬇️

Another +1 for Renshuu from me

I also use Rocket Japanese for listening/speaking practice (not free) and Wanikani for kanji (only free for the first 3 levels, maybe ~100 hours)

It's been a while.

Glad to be announcing a new game, and happy that it is something experimental and weird: a tiny, tense, turn-based strategy game about merging units into spectacular combinations, and then watching them evaporate thousands of bugs.

For me, today's ridiculous project was to write a script that runs a speedtest against my ISP every 10 minutes and then uses a smart plug API to power cycle my cable modem if the numbers look bad

There's a Missile Command clone for Atari that not only has bootleg Guncannons and a Yamato style space carrier on the box, it was also made by a company called SINMAX.

In my #visualnovel Stories from Sol, the main mecha you see is the Juno III (in colour) but you never see the Juno I or II. In a rare moment of free time I decided to flex my #mecha #artist muscles (what little I have) and figure out what they'd look like.
Concept art for the Juno I - a mecha resembling construction equipment. Concept art for the Juno II - A bulky mech with lots of right angles and large fuel tanks Official art of the Juno III - a mecha with hard edges and large file tanks

I know one games industry person that declares email bankruptcy once or twice a year (usually after vacation) and when they do they just delete their inbox. They have a public facing role so they post online when they do it and invite people to email again.

I think it happens when people think of games as a subset of tech because in tech "developer" is often short for "software developer" and "foo developer" is short for "foo software developer" (e.g. "Front End Developer") so in that formulation "game developer" would be "Game Software Developer"

Damien Crawford's Golf Experience 2022 (& 2024) have you play as an amateur golfer. You have to track down the ball, you don't have knowledge of slopes or wind, and there's no meters.

A low-res first person 3D view of golf on the green. The text box asks "How will you swing?" with the choices of Cautious approach, Moderation, and Full send it. The player is near the green on a golf course. The sky is orange and it's raining. The game asks "Which one?" with the 3 Iron, 7 Iron, and Wedge clubs as options. The golf course is covered in snow and white fog, with the green barely visible to the right. Textbox says "The ball is currently in the rough. Which sort of club will you use?" An underwater golf course where the sand is pink, giving a vaporwave feel to the game.
