Oh hey this checks out! Now we know that 1) it was a product Nintendo believed was going to exist, and 2) at least one store still anticipated it when they were producing their marketing copy for October 2003 (but did not feature it in their holiday catalog the following month)

The rest of the catalog is filled with guides... that have product photos and are available to order. It makes sense that they'd do a bundle deal, but it's so weird that they'd offer a discount for a product that didn't exist yet

...there was no strategy guide for Kirby Air Ride

Did they print up this coupon *expecting* there would be a guide they could bundle?

A peek at GAME FREAK (Yep, *that* Game Freak!) tips 'zine issue 22 from 1985 where the solution to arcade Time Gal is lovingly and painstakingly illustrated and written out scene-by scene. 💜

A scan of the photocopied zine with an illustration of protag Reikas sat coly with legs crossed and a marker pen held in one hand, with cheeky doodles drawn over the game's villain's face and a piece of paper. "Time Stop!"

Okay actually I think the model for this is Eagle Eye Mysteries in London, where they take the characters from Eagle Eye Mysteries and plop them in London. You have to do the opposite. Londoners solving a mystery in Austin
