Today’s the 45th anniversary of My Bloody Valentine. Canada's Cinepix and director George Mihalka stole our hearts with this masterpiece of holiday horror. I missed the film first run because the commercials were too scary, and I was still traumatized from seeing Friday the 13th on opening night.

Meet Stella Sagar, assistant manager of The Love Oven in Valentine Bluffs. The unnamed first victim in the original My Bloody Valentine plays a bigger part in the return of Harry Warden in my official novelization. There's also an origin story for this hopeless romantic's heart tattoo.

When it comes to signage in slasher films, the Valentine Bluffs town sign from My Bloody Valentine remains one of the most memorable, with its flashing neon heartbeat. The only slasher sign more iconic is the Camp Crystal Lake sign from Friday the 13th.

For some reason, The Talisman never fully clicked with me, but the follow-up Black House I consider top-tier King and Straub. I’m all in for the third Talisman book Other Worlds Than These, coming October 6. The cover is gorgeous.

This is one of those rare months where I get a horror holiday trifecta, with Friday the 13th, Valentine's Day, and my birthday landing consecutively. I've written the books for two of them and dream about adapting the third.

I love this review for the French Edition of my Basket Case novelization! - Basket Case juggles between pure horror and grotesque, for a result as disgusting as fun.

While the first 13th of 2026 is a Tuesday, I’m looking forward to the three Friday the 13ths this year, in February, March, and November. That means three upcoming parties in a cabin by the lake.

Saw this novelization of Silent Night Deadly Night by @armandomunoz.bsky.social. I remember being so scared of the VHS cover of this movie when I was a kid. Who says the holidays are over?
