Day 3/30 of #pleinairpril

Tried out a bike path for the first time and saw a cool boat c:
A gouache painting of an upside down boat at a dock on a small river. Ripples lead up to the boat, which stands out brightly against the background. Behind the boat is a large willow tree. The light and grass color convey a bright early spring day. Some of the tree branches in the scene are still bare. A photo of the same painting still clipped to the easel. Behind it is the river and the boat. The light has changed, now being overcast with a partly cloudy sky in the background.

So I came back and painted these flower pots in my garden.

Kudos to those who overcome the awkardness and manage to paint from any location!

Pleinairpril 2

I tried to find a spot to paint some industrial/railway zone near my home, there are so many interesting stuff to paint. But there weren't many good spots. I felt so exposed and uncomfortable at the idea of putting my gear down and sit alone a couple hours in that kind of place.

I'm really excited to show some snippets of my work for a unique collaborative D&D illustrated book.

The campaign will go live very soon:

I'm illustrating one of 4 chapters of the book, I can't wait to show you the full illustration!

This month I'd like to work exclusively in traditional medium from location.
Here is a view from the cathedral of Tours, I finished it at home after freezing in the shade for too long.

gouache painting of the back of a cathedral, the blue sky is contrasting with the tall volumes of the monument. Some part are sunlight and other in the shade which create a balanced composition.

Thanks! It's all placed by hand to have full control of the scene. But I'm starting to dig into some add-ons to automate things like foliage or roads.
arthurbrgs.bsky.social
Thank you for the recommendation!

I discovered this place in a tiktok yesterday, the project was already finished. Incredible location with that bridge

Thank you! Yeah sure for another composition!

Thank you for the quote! You have been inspiring me for many years

Hi Eli, mostly a mix between the classic one and anisotropic one. The effects depend on the render size so you may have to adjust the values depending on the output size.
I have two setups ready (one clean, one painterly) and I can adjust quickly using a mix node
