The United States is now on the Civicus Monitor Watchlist.

A global list of countries where there is a serious decline in respect for civic freedoms.

The watchlist was updated in March 2025 and includes the US alongside the Democratic Republic of Congo, Pakistan, Kenya, and Serbia.

Spouse went back home - to a country they hadn't been back to in 16 years- to see a family member. While there they met someone and the affair happened. Lasted 2 weeks. They are back. Should it be trusted that they are sorry, dont know why they did it, and wont do it again?
