Don’t be naive - This Trump adjacent “Peace Prize” was awarded as a precursor to pave the way for a US invasión of Venezuela for the purposes of accessing the countries national
Resources.
Namely oil. It’s always oil.

Sorry, you came to me to tell me they’ve consulted with teachers, sounding very much like a cheerleader. I’m not trying to be rude, just giving facts in limited characters.
asilvalining.bsky.social
For a moment I thought this was Alberta 😆 silly me - @albertateachers.bsky.social aren’t picketing at all!! This is Chicago, and Los Angeles - whose strike lasted only 6 days in case anyone’s looking for tips:

Is no strike pay one? Or maybe taking zeros for almost a decade straight. How about not Demanding mandatory & public class size reporting? These might not be criticisms for you, but for many educators, myself incl they certainly are -this strike is a once in a generation opportunity to get it right.
asilvalining.bsky.social
I mean - Theobold says it himself. No where in his own article does he state they consulted with teachers so……
asilvalining.bsky.social
I think it’s cute that you think they do in any meaningful way that’s not performative …. Bless

Teacher Day Camp?
Embarrassing.
ATA Learn How to Strike Challenge.

The ATA is literally infantilizing their members then wonder why the public doesn’t consider them professionals….
Pick up a sign and picket like ALL LABOUR ORGS! @albertateachers.bsky.social @schilldawg.bsky.social
asilvalining.bsky.social
Maybe u were led to believe it was a collective decision (classic ATA) but “Provincial Executive Council, acting on the advice of the CentralStrike AdvisoryCommittee, decided not to undertake picketing.”Don’t be fooled, it wasn’t the workers making the call here. #abed

All the arguments that "well, actually, teachers pickets are just fundamentally different than traditional labour pickets..." well, perhaps technically true, is also irrelevant.
That argument would be true for every other jurisdictions as well, but teachers still picket everywhere else.

Lol, if you were going to be concerned about petitions you shouldn't have《checks notes》 made petitions easier.
Whatever happened to Smith's "direct democracy is best" schtick?

It would be kind of funny if ATA started a campaign to unionize private and charter teachers.
smartalecw.bsky.social
They don't believe in public education, the professionalism of teachers, nor union activity.

Remember Bill 32? It made it so that union folks could opt out of "non-core functions" of their unions.

The Government of Alberta will tell you, on the record, that when choosing a *private* school, class size absolutely matters.

I am once again insisting that @albertateachers.bsky.social @schilldawg.bsky.social insist on reinstating class size reporting in negotiations.

I said what I said: Kristi Noem should be tried at The Hague for crimes against humanity.
asilvalining.bsky.social
To whom it may concern:

1. If you work, are an employee, or a labourer, you are part of the working class. Unless you’re the CEO of a multimillion$ corp - you are a labourer & should ALWAYS side w your fellow workers fighting 4 better conditions.

2. Strikes are meant to disrupt & be inconvenient.

Teachers: you know you've got a fair deal when, in a year from now, when the private schools come lobbying for money again, the government has to tell them "no," not because they want to, but because you've tied up everything in public education.

Don't stop until they roll back private funding.

Aaahhh I see the Alberta NDP is sticking with the ‘we’re better at building pipelines’ narrative. Third time’s a charm, I guess
naheednenshi.bsky.social
Danielle Smith's 'plan' for a pipeline is nothing but a pipe dream.

There's no route, no partner, no funding, and no consultation. Just another $14 million of taxpayer funds wasted on a project that does nothing and goes nowhere.

Alberta's New Democrats got it done once, and we'll do it again.

Opinion: 'Parental rights' threaten to take public education backwards
These groups claim to speak for parents, but they push a vision of parents’ rights that infringes on the rights and well-being of students.

But then how would she introduce American style vouchers??
asilvalining.bsky.social
Imagine if teachers were paid $30 per day per child.
$30 x 30 kids x 182 days = $163,800.

Danielle Smith just put a price on how much she thinks teachers are worth. Now get back to bargaining and back up your own math.

As disgusting as this is, it’s also embarrassing that Dani has more of a strike plan than the @albertateachers.bsky.social
