my morbid curiosity is piqued by very poorly-reviewed kits... troublesome

okay, I guess this thing is quite balanced and poseable... yes, very striking design and excellent engineering to support it, but some of those stickers are lost causes; too stiff to wrap around what they need to. I wonder what the #gunpla designers said when they saw the GQuX? I'm betting "Oh no"

no progress photo for GQuX yet (I've only just done one head while waiting for something to install) but jeez, this is HG? my condolences to anyone doing this as their first kit. These parts and stickers, while remarkably engineered, are little nightmares even beyond what I'd expect in an RG #gunpla

Queuing up what's next for my #gunpla adventures... I'd like to knock a few HGs out of the way to clear up some shelf space, then tackle another RG

The difference in 1/100 and 1/144 scales is not as striking as I anticipated, and the kit's complexity compared to the HG Shining isn't much. I still have a couple other MGs waiting (God Gundam and Turn A) so maybe I'll warm up to MGs, but they definitely seem like kits meant for painting plus-ups.

As for this, my first finished Master Grade... I dunno! Use of screws and some inconsistent joints make for an odd posing experience. Maybe it's the era of MG kits I've started with, but I think I'd rather have done another RG instead. I do have both of Domon's suits in RG waiting to be built...

me fixing something weird on my gunpla:

this has been a bit of a journey so far. The box for this kit is post-2022 (blue logo, "Bandai Namco" up top), but the runners appear to have been pressed in 2005. The plastic is a bit crispy, and I broke one of the shoulder pieces (I'll clean it up tomorrow). And screws? Man, screw that! #gunpla
