Free Planet began as a simple idea--"scifi GI Joe defending space Venezuela"--with a resource-rich but financially poor planet struggling to maintain its independence. It begins with the abduction of one of the planet's leaders.

2026 is already proving it more prescient than I would have hoped.

Focusing on the good part here: We've only scratched the surface of what comics, as a medium, can accomplish.

Comics can be so much more than ersatz teleplays, with narratives hammered into pages and panels; they're objets d'art and should be ideated as such from conception.
Won't lie it makes me feel a lot more confident about the possibilities of what you can still do in western comics seeing something that strident succeed.

Sucks the world is so evil it's prescient though

Any comparison to my Uncle Chaykin's work is taken as the highest possible compliment.

Thanks for this, Frank; it made my day!
The way time moves now has made Free Planet must read comics. The more I fall into the world of the book, the more you reach the goal of building a truly Chaykinesque world. You and the team are doing great work.
