Debut WIP: a werewolf romantasy with a cult and lots of yearning
Clara is fascinated by nature due to her sheltered life. She might be shocked the first time she tries camping (it's cold, there's bugs, etc.) but she'll still have fun.
Wesley raised himself in the wild, so that's home. He's used to towns now, but cities are still overwhelming.
How does your character feel about nature?
Do they like the outdoors? Have good survival skills?
Or do they prefer the comforts and amenities of a city?
Some combination of both?

My werewolf romance has no pack elements/dynamics. Not really because I avoided them intentionally, but because my MC has no friends 👍
Anti-tropes: what are some tropes that you've purposefully avoided in your WIP? OR, are there any tropes that you've put a twist on?

The First Maiden's sacrifice ended a war/plague(?) centuries ago, sparking the new dominant religion. The interpretation and enforcement of this event's "teachings" became warped over the years, leading to the current suffering of Clara and her fellow Maidens.

Would your character(s) still fall for their first love(s)?
If it doesn't make sense to answer for romantic love, you can talk about some other sort of "first love".

Clara used to be affectionate with her sisters, but became more guarded as she grew up. When she's close to someone, she's OK with being more touchy.
Wesley is insanely touch-starved, but also Scared. Quite uncomfortable unless he fully trusts the other person (so, Clara).
How does your character feel about physical touch?
Are they fans of a handshake, hug, pat on the back, etc?
Do they prefer to keep their distance?
Does it matter how close they are to the other person?

Clara: Can be manipulative and callous to protect herself.
Wesley: Self-destructive, obsessive. Buries negative feelings until they spiral.
And they're both good at lying when they find it "necessary."
Earlier, we shared some Antagonist green flags. Now let's see some Main Character red flags! 🟥

Does/do your character/s grow in their ability to love in the course of the story, and if so in what ways?

Clara: She has a variety of knowledge from textbooks, but has studied magical theory and zoology the most.
Wesley: Clara 🥲 and maybe how to care for farm animals

For the opposite of my romantasy WIP, I guess Clara would be stuck in her forced marriage to an evil rich man. And the genre would become horror 🤔
Share some ANTI-comps (things that are totally OPPOSITE from your WIP)!
You could also try reframing your WIP as a totally different genre. What would it look like if your romance was now horror?
