In grade school I lived in a tiny town for awhile, like <800 people tiny, and there was a lot down a gravel backroad that fair rides went to die. I used to bring shiny rocks, snail shells, feathers, barn nails, whatever to give to the dead dragon kiddie coaster as gifts to go on adventures with me

When I was little I’ draw on any scrap of paper I could, usually diner place mats, receipts, napkins because dedicated paper was too expensive, but I was had to draw the world around me. Birds, fish, bugs, stuff latchkey kids poke around at. Writing I started young too, that was pure escapism
