Not great for morale that one of the big undercurrents of american politics right now is the broad bipartisan support for building concentration camps among national/state electeds even while citizens and city councils try to stop them

Edtech is like ring cameras: sold everywhere and everyone seems to be a customer, but the product is about data and surveillance not providing any kind of really useful service.
So much tech is just selling you a basic product cheaply because the profit is in data from your use of the product.
