We were delighted to join the North London Citizens Listening event @finchleyreform.bsky.social as members of @citizensuk.org.

It was an inspiring event where 130 people from schools, faith groups, foodbanks & community organisations came together to share ideas & build campaigns for justice.

People turn to food banks when they don't have enough money to survive.

Lots of people are in-between jobs, have health conditions or are looking after loved ones.

And some people are in work that doesn't pay enough to get by.

🚨 BREAKING: nearly half a million people in disabled households will be forced into severe hardship if cuts to social security go ahead.

This is cruel and irresponsible.

If the UK government doesn’t rethink this, rising poverty and hunger will be its legacy.

Some good news 👏👏 All pupils in families receiving Universal Credit will now be eligible for free school meals.

Our research shows this change will keep 135,000 fewer children from facing severe hardship. This is a HUGE step forward.

Maybe now it can scrap its negative changes to the council tax support scheme, so that the poorer members of our community are not penalised 🤔

🚨 Over 1.4 MILLION emergency food parcels were provided by food banks in our community in just 6 months. This is 69% higher than the same period 5 years ago.

This can't go on and we refuse to stand by while so many of us are pushed to the brink, without enough money to live on.
