DC bars and such since 2013. Barredindc.com
Been awhile but since I just tell people Residents (one of the first in town to showcase it), need some more recent updates:

Sunday morning I thought a spotted an incredible deal at CVS for CTC (Cinnamon Toast Crunch for those in the know). But the price offer expired on Saturday.

Ok or Bad form for me to rip off all the expired price tag stickers like I did here in annoyance?

This is a such a huge blow to the city's arts ecosystems. This is the coverage that in my opinion is hardest to replace or rebuild
If it clarifies what was lost this week:

Philip Kennicott and Monica Hesse remain as arts critics at The Washington Post

Eliminated:
art critic
arts editor
arts/film editor
classical critic
pop critic
television critic
theater critic
all editors/reporters in Book World including two book critics

DC United has a home match in 15 days, at night. I know it’s the Apple deal but doing outdoor night games in cold weather states during winter seems dumb

Shout out to the woman at her house at 7th and Mass NE who saw me and my car stuck in ice/snow and lent me her shovel and then helped push my car out

The panini at Piccolina may be the best sandwiches in DC no one is talking about. Even comes with a side salad. Here’s the two I’ve had so far - incredible

Honored to share the great work of so many Post writers the past 13 years here, particularly in local reporting. They didn’t tell every story but when they have, it’s been very well done.

Devastated that so few of them will be left - we are all worse for it

Decided to bike a half mile today - hadn’t thought about how hard it would be to lock it up (understandably so a low priority to clear the area around sign posts and bike racks), ended up hauled it up a 4 inch high snowbank tho

Largest city in country that plows residential sidewalks is Rochester NY (200k people, fee added to annual property tax). They use private contractors to do it.

Never was into doing an all-inclusive resort but after going to the Iberostar Selection Paraíso between Cancun and Playa Del Carmen, not sure I’ll do a tropical resort family vacation again otherwise.

Free club/camp had a friggin rehearsal and a performance most nights

Taking kid to non metro accessible, street parking only, further than walking distance bday party today. Should we just take rideshare? Street parking seems impossible ?

Based on replies to earlier post - “neighborhood bar” is an extremely wide category of spots.

During week it includes basically every bar that’s not a dance club.

I’m thinking more of neighborhood pub, step up from straight up dive bar. Irish pub vibe not exclusively
