Here’s the memo explaining CM Allen’s Streatery Program Emergency/Temporary Amendment Acts of 2025, which will get a vote at the DC Council’s Dec. 2 legislative meeting. The emergency bill needs 9 votes to pass, while the temporary version needs 7 votes:

The best value restaurant burgers in DC
Man the burgers at DC9 are some of the best I've ever had, and they rotate in new burgers fairly frequently. Honestly a huge factor in why I go to the Survivor watch parties there.

Bowser not running for reelection. She gave scoop to the Post last night which was embargoed until she announced it right now (I just got an email about it)

Thx to MPD + AirTag tech for recovering e-bike that I stupidly left unlocked in front of house at 5p, then I realized was gone 3 hours later.

I tracked down to 2 locations, called 911, cops came, I pinged it, cops knocked on door, asked for bike back, I got it back at 10:30p

The 6 year old Astro Beer Hall (13/G NW) is quietly a big after-work draw (tables reservations are free).

Hosted/comped for surprisingly good burgers, fried chicken, tots, ~17 draft craft beers. You might score free donuts some nights. $6 burger/chicken sandwich specials.

Axios confirming my earlier report that Le Dip is taking down their streatery (again they don’t actually have to yet, they can submit a permit request and keep it while pending review)

Heard from a bar that they’ve started selling Guinness on draft like crazy past 6 months or so. Is this “split the g” social media effect (I’ve yet to do it) or have people discovered finally that Guinness is a sessionable, easy drinking beer?

any other bars seeing same thing?

Here are some of the (paraphrased) comments Mayor Bowser made yesterday at the “Real DC” panel influencer event (apparently closed to the press) yesterday at Isla that I attended.

At least for this audience, not surprising was quite a pro-development message

Hilarious - someone at Tune Inn sitting near an advisor to current CM Janeese Lewis George and former CM Tommy Wells overheard plans for her possible mayoral campaign and spilled the beans to Cuney Til of Axios

Mayor’s office invited me and a bunch of other local influencers in different areas to a panel including her, the RAMW prez, a tech startup person, and the quite personable director of DC Parks and Rec. Go-go band

Pretty big turnout - relatively candid for a friendly audience

More math on streateries.

Bottom line - DC should start charging for streateries but it should be $5-10/SF like sidewalk cafes, not $20/SF. And they should allow clear enclosed streateries (maybe charge more for those) to make them usable year round.

What’s a question you’d like answered by the mayor and/or the president of RAMW

1) relating to DC bars/restaurants industry and

2) you think they might actually provide an informative response to?
