Democratic lawmakers picked a fight and the GOP took the bait. When was the last time you could say that?
Breaking news: The Pentagon has launched an investigation into Sen. Mark Kelly (D-Arizona) for alleged misconduct after he and other Democrats urged military members to disobey unlawful orders in a recent viral video.

So the University of Texas at Austin neither signed Trump's higher-ed compact nor rejected it. The deadline passed and UT just did not respond: www.texastribune.org/2025/11/17/u...
UT-Austin still silent on Trump compact as deadline passes
Most other invited universities have rejected the administration’s offer tying priority federal funding to campus policy changes.

Messing around with Bloomberg's vessel mapping function and....not a lot of ships cruising the placid waters of Venezuela!

I count two oil tankers and a chemical ship. Every other trackable vessel appears crammed into the port of Caracas (the light blue clump)

Still thinking through everything here, but this is a good, straightforward piece of old fashioned architectural criticism that, I think, successfully navigates the complexities of the assignment, worth reading.

In Monrovia, California, protesters are purchasing 17¢ ICE scrapers from Home Depot and immediately returning them to create long lines and slow down the entire store. Their aim is to disrupt sales and convey a message opposing ICE raids occurring in their neighborhood.

How does a reporter do a catch-and-kill operation without paying off a source? I suppose Nuzzi could sit on an unflattering story instead of reporting it out for New York but catch-and-kill is something different and worse.

the post-sale coverage here is funny bc like, this is just not true! and the museum has sold off a *lot* of work between 1987 and today, and some of those sales were way more objectionable than this one imo.

real ones know there is only one correct way to travel from NYC to DC (Amtrak northeast regional cafe car)
Q: Why did you fly here? Aren't trains greener?

MAMDANI: I will use every form of transit and I want to make sure they are all affordable in NYC

TRUMP: That's a lot quicker too, in all fairness. I'll stick up for you.
