Today - December 9, 2025 - is the 800th day since the 2018 Farm Bill expired without Congress ever bothering to enact a new one.

That failure is epic and inexcusable. It is is also emblematic of the abandonment of family farm agriculture by today’s Republican Party.

Republican have gone from fielding a mob of insurrectionists chanting “Hang Mike Pence!” (and bringing a noose and a gallows with them to do it) in 2001, to fielding a president today who calls for the execution of Members of Congress who disagree with him.

For MAGA/Republicans, the joy of “owning the libs” now extends to watching them squirm as MAGA/Republicans starve poor , hungry people. I’m old enough to remember when intentionally starving people to achieve a political end was considered a war crime. In my book, it still is.

I’m old enough to remember when Presidents of the U.S. and their followers didn’t think intentionally starving kids was a swell legislative tactic.

All while they - the president and his cronies - danced the night away at a lavish (and garish) Gatsby party.
