It boggles the mind how so much of "downstate," and especially the "New Illinoisans," bemoans their proximity to such a global city. The beauty of that being a short drive or train ride away is so lost that they can't fathom the discussions Bill is having in this photo with his constituents.

Important context: Springfield is not even a Chicago suburb, so I'm also "outside Chicago." However, (most of) the residents make visitors feel at home. I'm beyond lucky to get to visit this beautiful city and its neighborhoods throughout the year.

I'm at the scene where ICE abducted multiple people from Lincoln and Foster this morning.

A WGN producer was among the people taken, allegedly because she was among a group of bystanders who tried to intervene. ICE agents hit this car while making their getaway.

Perry just handed a draft of her order to both sides and left the bench. She's letting them look at it until she returns.

We still don't know the details of her order. She said she's granting the state's request "in part," which indicates some part of it is also being denied. Stay tuned.
