Cover of Another War is Possible showing a person with a backpack and gas mask throwing a stone, set to a neon/fluo backdrop in two tones of rays emanating from the person. Book title is in black with subtitle in white. Behind the image of the book cover is a black and white image of masked people launching molotov cocktails at police officers, who are already engulfed in flames. For your wonderful tenderness towards each and every one of the children in our community.
No words can express how much we will miss you.
You will live forever in our memories and in our hearts.

Comrades from the occupation of 37 Lelas Karagianni Street

Friend and comrade Christos, we thank you from the bottom of our hearts for your love, your solidarity, your companionship. For everything you shared with us on this long but tragically short journey.

& tons of sheet metal-covered, rebellious Exarchia. Even when we hadn't seen him for a long time, it was always as if we had met him yesterday.
And we will miss him immensely.
batallonbakunin.bsky.social
We remember him in places like Sakis & Yilmaz's cafes, in the shop of our unforgettable beloved Lena in Psyrri, in homes, at parties, concerts, events & celebrations in our big house in Kypseli, in our chance encounters on the streets of the now police-occupied, trendy shops

In the ongoing resistance against redevelopment, profiteering, drug trafficking, and repression in Exarchia and on Strefi Hill. In the streets against genocide and occupation in struggling Palestine and so many other places that it is impossible to mention.

in solidarity with the struggle of the political prisoners on hunger strike. In the anti-fascist demonstrations for the murder of Pavlos Fyssas. Outside the Rector's Office, besieged by the cops in 2023, against the degradation of art and for the state crime of Tembon.

In the reoccupation of Villa Amalias in 2013, comrades, fellow prisoners, co-defendants, hostages, rebels. In the neighborhood of Kypseli, defending the occupation of 37 Lelas Karagianni Street, with megaphones and marches. In the occupation of the Rector's Office in 2015,

then in the occupation of the Rector's Office in Athens for the release of the seven activists. The multi-day occupation of the Polytechnic & the militant demonstrations during the December 2008 uprising. In the struggles to defend the squats against the parastatal fascist scum & state repression.

Outside the IMF conference center in Prague in 2000, besieged by the Black Bloc, and in the riot-torn streets of Genoa in 2001 against the G8 summit where Carlo Giuliani was murdered. In the mobilizations and clashes in Thessaloniki in 2003 against the EU Summit and

This is how we remember him, in a multitude of moments from our long journey in the struggle against the state and capital. During the occupation of the Polytechnic in 1991. In the solidarity struggles for imprisoned activists and in the marches commemorating the 1973 Polytechnic uprising.

His heartfelt statements at meetings and those eloquent expressions that he so uniquely incorporated into his genuine folk speech. His dedication, concentration, and composure when needed. His intense combativeness. And more.
batallonbakunin.bsky.social
We remember him. His smile. His genuine laughter. His kindness. The way he addressed us by name when we met. His anxiety about something that was important to him. The sometimes weary look in his eyes when he had struggled with something that was sometimes obvious and sometimes not.

As authentic as his sense of social & class justice was. As generous as his anarchist heart.

This farewell is a bad dream that none of those who loved him can believe. And there are so many of them, because among his many gifts, the one that stood out was his ability to be extremely lovable.
batallonbakunin.bsky.social
The void left by his sudden and tragic loss is as great as his companionship, friendship, and solidarity were heartfelt, as strong as his fighting spirit was. The void is as great as his love for freedom and for the world of struggle was deep.

Anarchist comrade Christos Spilios has left us. A veteran of countless struggles, he is best remembered by the words his friends & comrades at Lelas Karagiani 37 (LK37).
The thread is worth every word.

"We bid farewell with honor & deep sorrow to our beloved comrade and friend Christos Spilios.
A photo of Christos, looking to the side. Christos in a militant anarchist bloc, most likely early 90s.

Friends and comrades made a crowdfunding page for my family.

It’s really hard to post this. I know that there are a lot of other important issues asking for money but things have gotten to the point where we need to open ourselves up to your support.

Thank you for your consideration.

In case you were wondering, Mark Bray, who wrote a book about anti-fascism, got death threats from MAGA, and is fleeing to Spain with his wife and young children - yeah, he's Jewish.

I write extensively about the social and political origins and importance of neighborhood clubs in Argentina-- as well as the history of Argentine anarchism-- in my upcoming book, "Argentina: A Tale of Two Utopias-- Anarchism, Soccer, Neoliberalism"

Deportivo Español is a club who knows well the effects of neoliberal politics on the fabric of social and sporting clubs in Argentina, having resisted bankruptcy proceedings as well as speculators attempting to liquidate the club and auction off its physical infrastructure.

Milei gave a free concert on Monday for his most fanatical followers (feel free to look for video, it's extremely cringe) while demonstrators and local residents protested and sporadically clashed with police outside.

Deportivo Español-- a social & sporting club associated w/ the Spanish immigrant community, has fired the club lawyer & revoked his club membership after he appeared on stage with President Milei while wearing the club's jersey. Stating that his actions are "not aligned w/ the values of the club."

The Fox crazies make mention of “Another War Is Possible” as part of the villification campaign against Mark Bray.

Is this fame?
