This is embarrassing from Google.

The Nat’l Cancer Institute (part of #NIH) is being torn down from inside, in part by fools who think AI can entirely replace human cancer scientists.
And Google is buying ads that don’t mention the destruction?

That’s cowardice, Google newsfromgoogle.bsky.social

This is a such an inspiring book about the art of improvisation and how it applies to our lives in general. I think it’s also very relevant also for what it’s like to do science. It was a pleasure to talk with Stephen about it on the Night Science podcast! open.spotify.com/episode/165i...

🚨 HEADS UP

Washington State has reported a suspected human H5N1 case with no cattle exposure likely bird-linked (or from contaminated milk).

The patient is severely ill in hospital.

Clade pending (D1 vs B3). CDC confirmation awaited.

If confirmed, it will be Washington’s first H5N1 case of 2025.

There's wisdom w/elders' experiences. But they can also be lulled by past experiences. Look at the actual Captain in Titanic.

Unless someone actually fought against fascistic regimes in their rise in mid-1930s they don't understand, what's worked since the 60s doesn't cut it.

Vote new leadership.

The thing about caving to bullies after pretending you won't is you just teach them that if they wait long enough, especially when they don't care about consequences, that they just need to wait you out. You've lost your bargaining power completely.

Land doesn't vote, corporations are not people and winner take all states are not representative.

"Who knows what evil lurks in the hearts of men?".

This famous line comes from the old-time radio show, "The Shadow" & seems wholly fitting for what we know about every Republican since they are all culpable through their silent acquiescence.

Dastardly deeds need to continually be called out.
