That’s 15 further precons complete, and only 2000 odd left to go. If you count ones from Shandalar and MTGO etc too. Which obviously I do.

So what if you took one of the @mtgarena.com Starter Deck Duels decks and built it in paper using Double Feature printings? What would that be like? A question you’ll never have an answer to because nobody would be strange enough to actually put the time and effort into doing something like that.

I’ve never played Yu-Gi-Oh! but occasionally a history video (like this one) will pop up as a recommendation and they’re usually really fascinating. The Gishki FTK deck seems to be the equivalent of MTG’s Eggs deck, and interestingly this went down a couple months after Pro Tour Return to Ravnica.

Going through the @sorcerytcg.bsky.social Gothic precons a second time (sleeving them up) and these are my favourite cards from each deck. Based pretty exclusively on the art. The Harbringer deck especially was a particularly difficult choice. 10 Tonne Slug and Call of the Sea were my almosts.

In today’s episode of Commander is a silly format which shouldn’t exist but I’m not too proud to take advantage of the whims of its playerbase… I only had one of these in my bulk. Surprisingly. Time to put it into my trade binder where it’ll sit unloved until it is time to go back into the Saga box.

This account was originally just to automatically post stuff from my MTG Precon focused Wordpress site. But nothing that WoTC has released this year has had any appeal to me. Next year, maybe. Return of Theme Decks in Lorwyn is promising. But honestly… I’m not sure if I care. Pic related. :)

So I hear people are into Professional Magic related drama? Well, it doesn’t get much bigger than this one. This newly re-edited (and able to be monetised properly) 40 minute deep dive into Mike Long’s lap is definitely worth a watch. Even if you already watched the longer cut.

I really should actually try MTGO at some point. I mean I have an account and it’s downloaded on my computer… but that’s as far as I’ve gotten.
great day if you're me :]

The dates aren’t quite locked in yet: we’re discussing how soon after Christmas/New Years we want to kick off. But I’ve earmarked this art for a poster for a while now, and with Margaret Organ-Kean doing illustrations in the new Lorwyn set (her past piece was for Tempest in 1997) it seemed time.

So I tried to do the Japanese triangle deck pic thing which was all the rage in the Pauper and Premodern scenes (and assumedly Japanese Middle School scene?) a few weeks ago. But I didn’t check any references before doing so. Don’t think I got it quite right. But hey: it’s the premodern.com list!

What were your first four Commander decks?

So guess which weirdo they let have access to the Wiki Bluesky account? Probably the same one who meant to go back and tweak this post a little bit but instead got distracted by reading 23 year old tournament reports from the Snapcaster Mage. Oops.

Watched the 2018 Stallone film Backtrace last night, which certainly was a 2018 Stallone film. But I did keep expecting that Modine would sit down and start explaining what made Chicago’s 1972 smash hit “Saturday in the Park” great, before complaining that his reaction videos keep getting blocked.

For the first time while collating Nationals info on @mtg.wiki I have managed to fully complete a 1995 box: way to go Sweden!

I am to blame for all but one of these, haha. All non-American former pro-players should be shaking in your boots: you’re next! Alternatively, if you want to spare yourself some pain then feel free to send me through a good headshot: the sideboard coverage team weren’t always the best photographers!

@flamedash.bsky.social Kia ora Johanna. I’m currently creating pages for Nationals on the MTG Wiki (mtg.wiki/page/Finnish...) and I came across a link to your “history project” article on mtg.bore. Unfortunately this isn’t archived by Wayback. Can you help me with some Finnish information? Reuben.

What’s the coolest Premodern era art sadly attached to a card which isn’t really good enough to play? Maybe it’s this one: it’s a pretty strong contender at the very least. Makes a pretty awesome event poster if nothing else, so that’s cool.

Do this. :)
To create an account, visit mtg.wiki/page/Special.... Don't be scared by the "Personal biography" question; it's an anti-spam measure, so just tell us that you're a real human person who likes Magic. Account requests are usually approved within 1-2 days.

Posting this here so I can reference it on the wiki! :)

For context: MaRo has mentioned that there was a 1994 Belgian Nats in a few articles, but I couldn’t find anything about it. So I emailed Carl Devos who did reports on the Dojo (and is still doing OS93/94 reports on zongo.be/magic) and boom:

Ok, this is pretty concerning. I get frustrated with the low resolution many/most older videos have for sure, but this is not the way to go about things.
Youtube has announced that all low-res videos (i.e. older ones) are to be automatically AI upscaled to HD.
Creators can opt-out on a per video basis (but the channel may be long abandoned).

When researching props or behind the scenes, old videos are useful, but not if upscaling produces artefacts.

Kia ora, I’m Reuben and Hybrid is fine in monocoloured Commander decks. However I also think off-coloured activated abilities shouldn’t count towards colour identity. You could play Gruul Guildmage in your Alesha, Who Smiles at Death deck — and not Orzhov Guildmage — but couldn’t pay 3G for +2/+2.

And the winner is…
