One way into the meaning of inclusion is to think about how it feels to be included. We held several training sessions this week on designing & delivering neuro-inclusive spaces, where we connected, not just to what inclusion means on a strategic level, but what it means to each of us.
Blue background with pale grey oval in the centre.
White text in top left corner reads What does inclusion mean
In the centre of the grey pebble black text in quotation marks reads I finally have a place to breathe, Swan Online Group Participant
In the bottom righthand corner of the image is a white SWAN logo.

We love going to the cinema as a family but why does every cinema think that all wheelchair users want to sit in the very front row practically touching the screen where it is extra loud and blurry. Surely there have to be some alternatives to this?

Got a new mug yesterday and it’s the perfect hand huggable weight shape and size and that makes me very happy as they are hard to find ☕️☕️☕️

Absolutely this! Sometimes when I say I struggle with sound people automatically assume it is just the volume, for me it is much more about the number of sources of sound & picking out the particular one I am tying to hear, like a person speaking to me in busy room is so overwhelming and impossible
thinkingautism.com
Autistics aren't merely "sensitive" to sound; autistic tendencies also include "expanded access to auditory information, heightened perception to pitch, difficulties dealing with speech in background noise, and taking longer to adapt to auditory environments.":

Post moving realisations - I hate decorating!
How do I know what colours I like? It's hard to imagine it on the walls. Or not pick the same colour for every room
Stress of everything in the wrong places & living in chaos
And oh the smell of paint & the feeling on my skin (that doesn't wash off!)
Image of two paint tins and a paint roller in a painting tray. Background is a beige colour. Paint tray is black with a turquoise paint in it and on the roller lying in it. Both paint tins in the front of the picture contain turquoise paint and have a white label on them

Not a fan of hearing my own voice back but loved hearing the final edit of podcast been working on with NHS Education for Scotland as a learning resource for the health and social care workforce to raise awareness of and better understand neurodiversity. So much to squeeze into a short podcast.

I grew up in Aberdeen as an undiagnosed autistic individual.
Now late diagnosed I am devastated that so many others will also have that choice and opportunity taken away (as much as there are flaws with many of the nhs diagnosis processes) please consider signing the petition chng.it/dYG82T82y9

Just one of the ways #ABA is literally Abuse to #Autistic & #ND children and young people ..

They are also taught they cannot say no to Authority or even Perceived Authority

Which can and does lead to further abuse , CPTSD , mental health issues and even the potential to be #Groomed

When we allow ABA therapists to “extinguish” flapping, echolalia, or other forms of autistic self-regulation to make a child appear less autistic—but without understanding why the child does these things—autistic kids perceive this as *irrational punishment*.
