I can't really discuss how I got Echo into the US; but if you've watched The Hunt for the Red October, you pretty much get the gist of it.

2016 was a bonkers good year for big budget shooter campaigns between Doom, Titanfall 2, and Infinite Warfare.

Infinite Warfare deserved a chance to stand separate from the mainline COD franchise rotation, imo
I’ve said it before I think Infinite Warfare is really underrated. It certainly couldn’t compete with Titanfall 2, but I think it would be talked about a lil more if it hadn’t released the same year. Fun and different campaign structure and I think the dogfights are fun. Meat and potatoes mil sci-fi

A show I grew up with that I feel never gets enough attention is Roughnecks The Starship Troopers Chronicles. So well made at the time and definitely felt too mature for kids. But with my dad being a Vietnam vet, the episode discussing PTSD helped me understand him a lil better as a kid.

it really used to be exactly this way, and it shaped so much of my life. The exploration-by-necessity.

So many doors of the mind opened. Libraries. Video rental. Bookstores. Tower Records where you could grab headphones and listen to a CD before buying!

Tech is legions better but much narrower.
The death of browsing is part of the reason art is the way it is now. Our opinions are largely fed to us by algorithms. Spending a spare 15 minutes wandering around a bookstore or comic shop or video rental place was how you found stuff you wouldn't ordinarily pick up and thereby expanded your taste
Bookselling is like the most "people go to the store and buy what looks cool to them without a particular agenda" type business left, and your purchases have a huge influence on what is ordered, what is displayed, and what is recommended.

The numbers in here are hilarious.

Do you use AI on the job?
Execs: 87%
Managers: 57%
Workers: 27%

Planned investment by 2030: $5T
"Necessary" annual revenue to justify that spend: $650B
Current annual revenue: $50B
Three years into the generative-AI wave, demand for the technology seems surprisingly flimsy
Investors expect AI use to soar. That’s not happening
Recent surveys point to flatlining business adoption
