Well... I had to go deep in the manuscript to find this one. Much like Nai in this snippet, I'm not sure how I feel about that! 😀

This is from my epic fantasy, which is slowly nearing completion.

Nai stilled, stopped in the midst of the fight, the violence, and watched.
The white one spun and twisted around her, small feet leaving twining trails in the shallow snow, while the others darted and lunged, long blades seeking not the figure in white, but Nai; her heart, her legs, her neck. But the white one was always there, never a moment late, never a moment early, always just in time, and on her face the serenity that always clung to her – for the white one was Qien Dao, not as girlish in this guise, with a fan in her hand, an arc of paper and steel. Maybe a little fear though.
No, Nai corrected herself as another blade came at her side—the pointed star bright, singing with the ferocity of the one holding it, the anger in their eyes—and there was Qien Dao, fan sweeping under and up, deflecting the blade even as she threw the attacker off. Not a little fear. A lot of fear, struggling to rise through the maid's blue eyes, drawing the flush from her cheeks. It was in the pulse pounding behind her ear, the sweat shimmering on her forehead, the white creeping through the determination in her gaze.
A well-hidden fear. Nai wondered if the others saw it, or if all they saw was Nai and the blood on her robes, the corpse in the grove behind.
Perhaps.
She did not care much.

Well... Ellen Ripley in Alien. Also, Charlize Theron in The Old Guard AND Cat Blanchett in Borderlands...

Borderlands is a bad movie but Blanchett... holy 🦆, she's worth watching it for. There should be more mature female heroes like that.

I totally nerd out pulling OTHER stories apart however, and I love ALL the structures. I'm currently studying how #cdrama works with 7 point plot system, the try-fail cycle and how Qi-Cheng-Zhuan-He and Zhang-jie work into that.

I LOVE story structure, but also... outlines are where my creativity goes to die.

I'm a pantser who outlines after the fact. Sometimes. Until I forget or I finish the story, whichever comes first. (Forgetfulness comes first).

No, Hero doesn't have any robots in it, although it does have a planetary AI.

For this story, I decided to go more for a biological/DNA based technology, with animals engineered to perform tasks. I make up for it in follow-up trilogy, with giant mechs and living ships.

#BookSky, I have a question!

Name a book where you enjoyed the movie/TV series more.

I'll go first... #ADiscoveryOfWitches. Boom, there, I said it. I spent most of book 1 waiting for Diana to be awesome only to be woefully disappointed. Somehow, the TV series managed to avoid that.
