I'm pretty sure this isn't Twitter, but let's hang out anyway. I've spent 20 years reporting on games and pop culture for Ars Technica, Penny Arcade, and Polygon. I've set the internet on fire a few times, in fact! Don't worry though, I'm nowhere near done

This is literally the plot of HIGHLANDER 2: THE QUICKENING.
A 25-person startup is developing technology to block the sun and turn down the planet’s thermostat.

The stakes are huge — and the company and its critics say regulations need to catch up.

OMG the teeniest tiniest Tim Chalomet you can imagine just showed up in season 2 of Homeland and I'm cracking up. I didn't know he has been around that long.

The best part of being an adult is being able to decide what each holiday does and doesn't mean to you. Or how to celebrate. Or whether to.

There are no rules to this stuff.

They're saying there is a less than one percent chance that the Bengals make the playoffs, so it's still worth watching today's game. Nice to know there's still a chance!

I saw a friend wearing an Ars Technica shirt and he said it was like an online community for people into games and technology. A few days later I joined the fora. Then I got banned. Then I was unbanned and they offered me a job.

You have to understand, My So-Called Life came out and then two years later Romeo + Juliet hit us like a comet. If you were a teen who liked ladies and you felt like you wanted to cry a lot?

Defenceless.

You were going to fall in love with Claire Danes.

Claire Danes joins Keri Russell as an actor I have had an age-appropriate crush on my entire life, starting with My So-Called Life, and she's almost always in something good. In my head "whatever the new Claire Danes project is" is almost its own genre.

Fun fact: The two leads of Homeland were named after the actors they were written for.

"Claire" for Claire Danes was changed to "Carrie" in the script once she was cast.

Adrian "Brody" turned down the male lead, and it was given to Damian Lewis, so the name didn't have to change.

One of my kids walked in, dropped Goodbye, Eri on my bed and said I should read it.

At not point was it what I thought it would be. I want to read it again because I'm still not sure what it was. As a fan of movies and someone fascinated by time and memory?

I found it perfect.

If you drive along the corn fields of Indiana at the right time of the evening you can see the drone pilots on the rolling platforms controlling the remote crop dusters and yep.

It's very strange to visit your own sci-fi future.

To be absolutely clear, Sektori is the opening act, and Lumines Arise is headlining this show. But this was set up and planned with both in mind, and that's like Chvrches opening up for Depeche Mode, so I think everyone would be cool with it.
Last night I was playing Sektori on the Steam Deck. It was a great game.

Tonight I'm playing Sektori on my OLED, sound CRANKED through the stereo, spent time with the analog equalizer getting the levels just right, PS5 controller, lights synced.

Some incredibly potent sativa.

Holy shit.

Hey friend, if you ever have hypervigilance to the point you jump whenever you get a call or a text?

Change the sound every week or two. You'll still hear it, but it should take your brain a while to catch up to the association, so the flinch reaction may be reduced.

Ask me how I know.

The Republican president telling the world Mamdani will do a great job while Schumer was unwilling to say anything positive about him is honestly the funniest thing.

Mamdani isn't participating in kayfabe and literally neither party knows how to respond.

Impossible to know if Democrats or Republicans are more annoyed by Trump giving Mamdani so much praise and support and frankly that fact is delightful.

I was talking to a guy who does beautiful woodworking stuff and I said it seemed hard as hell.

He said "Shit son, doing anything is hard. Hammering in a nail straight is hard. Anyone says something is easy they just don't remember being taught how to do it. Or practice didn't feel like work."

I think the Sphere is a giant eyesore that dominates the area it's in whether people want it to or not. It's indicative of the corporate need to own and control every aspect of the space around you.

I also want to see a band perform there and would pay a lot to do so, so you know. Two wolves.

I have only played like three levels of Sektori but holy shit how did they design this thing. How do you conceive of making all that work together at once, and then it turns into something else, but it's still super legible?

This game is not fucking around and I'm into it.
