I think it seems in elite circles like a thing smart people do.

Essentially the case I made against message test-maxxing, I think. It’s not inherently wrong or bad, but it’s myopic.

But the thing I haven’t seen is any suggestion that there is a plan to use the money to invest and create more money later. It looks like take the money, spend it on debt and operating expenses, pay back more of it later out of TV funds.

They’ve already made the broadcasts nearly an hour longer than NFL games, while the NFL pays its players much more and is (I’m pretty sure) very profitable, for advertising revenue. The option of making payroll more predictable with collective bargaining is right there. What am I missing?

Maybe I’m missing something about the accounting here but I do not understand how borrowing money from someone who then has to be paid back more money later is “revenue.”

One of the best projects I ever participated in was sending reporters out to attempt to use every bathroom in the NYC subway system that was allegedly in service ~2005. The findings were grim.
Today, Zohran Mamdani announced a $4m investment in 20-30 public restrooms.

It’s been over 4 years since alders first intro’d a resolution to pilot public restrooms in Chicago, and Brandon Johnson 2 years to *maybe* do ONE restroom *sometime* in 2026 at the expense of Ald. La Spata’s menu money.

A Miami-Indiana final would be a major victory for having rocks in your head (in a good way)

That thin, wild Mercury poisoning sound
There were more insane riffs written between 1966 and 1973 than in all of the years since. Mercury poisoning had its upsides

What I’m talking about for instance is that “Iron Man” isn’t just the one riff. There are four riffs, and they’re all well above the level of what’s being produced in the current economy.

Social progress-wise, plugs are all interchangeable again and I think we can feel good about that. It was an entirely self-inflicted problem that they weren’t, but baby steps and so forth.
