One of the best ways to learn empathy is to read about a person who has a different life experience than you, and see the world through their eyes.
Books don't tell readers who they personally are or who they are supposed to be. They do show readers a variety of characters. Implicit in that is this: "Here are some ways of being." Kids books aren't altering your kid to be someone new. They are simply showing them parts of humanity.

Tired of all the beeping noises coming from your phone?
Tired of all the endless alerts that you got another email from that website you just visited?
Tired of Doomscrolling your time away?
Try a Book.
It's analog, quiet, and engaging.
Give yourself a few moments of peace: Read.

Same!
My favorite part of reading is when a book gets so good you have to set it down, (finger marking the page), and just let your mind be blown for a minute before picking it back up again.
