It’s time! The Bert's Books Secret Santa.

Sign up by 30th November, and pick a book you'd like to gift to someone else.

I'll work out the best person to send that book to - and in return you'll get a book to unwrap too!

This is a good article about the real impact that this week's budget will have. It's from a bookshop perspective, but the truth is, it will have a negative impact on every small retailer.

I'm going straight to London for a night out once we close.

BUT unless you have other plans like me, you need to get yourself inside and somewhere cosy with a book.

And if you don't have a book, I'm here until 5.30...!

Black Friday sounds a bit dull, so treat yourself to some colourful books instead!

“RED Side Story” is the madcap sequel to Jasper Fforde’s “Shades of Grey”, full of colour magic. - Michael ❤️

First book of the day was "The Castle of Tangled Magic"!

Always here for a bit of magic in the morning. It's the only way to get me out of bed. - Michael

The budget. Business rates.

The reduction in the multiplier to 38.2p BUT the removal of the 40% business rates relief PLUS an increase in the rateable value means a 45.9% increase in my business rates for next year.

Yay.

First book of the day, "The Christmas Eve Murders".

Someone's getting in the mood! - Michael

Let's see what we're reading this week!

Bert is reading "The White Octopus Hotel", which seems to be part romance, part time travel... I'm intrigued. - Michael

First book of the day, "Death in High Heels" by Christianna Brand.

Fun fact, although Brand was a big crime writer, these days her most recognisable contribution to culture was that she invented Nanny McPhee (then called Nurse Matilda)! - Michael

Time again to hide inside warm books in this weather.
