Large-scale new housing developments MUST be connected to public transport from Day 1.

A new article by our Head of External Affairs:

With five major transport bills and two related ones progressing through Parliament, transport has, unusually, become the busiest area of legislative activity this session. That should be welcomed.…

Two good things about this bus funding, which we have campaigned for:

• It's multi-year funding
• It's based on local needs, not which local authority makes the best bid

Good to see buses being funded as the essential public service they are.

Better buses, more services: £3 billion boost for millions of passengers
Multi-year funding gives local authorities the funds they need to provide passengers with lower fares, more frequent and reliable services and safer journeys.

Upgrading Ely junction would be a massive boost for rail freight, removing tens of thousands of lorry journeys from roads, and improving passenger trips too.

Just the sort of project the Government should support, to boost the economy sustainably.

This is hugely disappointing news and is likely to result in an increase of private cars on the roads.

The UK Gov't must work with city mayors & councils to ensure that the policy, legal & financial framework is in place to make car sharing a going concern in the UK.

In last week's Budget, the Chancellor chose to freeze rail fares & phase out the fuel duty cut.

She also chose to introduce a small per-mile charge for EVs, increase tax on private jets, and invest in rail projects, all things we've called for.
