Many older people rely on public transport to get to shops and services, friends and family, work and volunteering.

The UK railway sector adds £41.2 billion to the UK economy per year and is associated with £14.2 billion per year in tax revenue.

Between £2.50 and £4 is generated in the wider economy for every £1 invested in the rail sector.
