So every other year I buy a new Christmas tree because I keep buying the cheapy prelit tree from Target or Walmart on Black Friday & inevitably the lights die after a year or 2 at most. So this year I’m debating going all out & getting a more expensive, nice, unlit tree & separate lights

Especially as an elder millennial who came of age before the internet and cellphones it feels like living through an Age of Enlightenment only to then face down the Dark Ages.
It's weird to not only have lived through an information revolution but also now living through its undoing, all within less than a generation.
Google at its peak was basically the best information retrieval system in human history and they and every competitor decided going from there to “you didn’t want answers you wanted half-assed auto-complete 80%-wrong hallucinations” in a few years was the right idea

We have spent so much effort on public sinks that turn on without touching them and paper towel dispensers you don’t have to touch. I’m over here begging for faucets that are far enough away from the sink bowl that I’m not hitting my clean hands on the bowl as I’m washing 😭

My lease isn’t up until the end of March & my building just sent me a lease renewal 🙃 also for the second year in a row my rent has gone up so slightly that I really just want to tell them it’s okay for it to just stay the same. Like you really don’t have to raise it at all. That is always an option

So in Lansing I attempted Friendsgiving but it made me extremely uncomfortable. Then when I first moved to Detroit I had a friend insist that I join her family for Thanksgiving. I ended up having a panic attack & leaving even before all of the guests arrived.

So @graceunderfiero.bsky.social told me I need pictures on my dating profiles where I’m smiling, but the quickest way for me to spot bots/scammers is when they open with some corny line about my smile. Then I ask which picture they’re talking about & they unmatch me 😂

Tonight is the annual tree lighting ceremony. I've lived less than 5 blocks from the tree the entire time I've lived downtown and I've still never been. But I really hate crowds and the photos afterwards always prove that I would have had a panic attack in the crowd that size

Ugh. Took the tags off of my new jeans & put them on. Wore them for like an hour and decided they are just too big. I should have gone another size down. But now I can’t return them because I took the tags off 😭
