It's hard to overstate the scope of Governor-elect Abigail Spanberger’s victory.

I congratulate and thank the candidates, their staffs and volunteers, and all whose tireless efforts made this happen.

My statement on Virginia's historic election results:

The House wasted a crazy amount of time this week on measures to punish each other.

That isn't what the American people sent us here to do.

I'm introducing a reform with Rep. Don Bacon to fix this broken process and raise the level of sanity in the House.

The BLS jobs report released today shows the unemployment rate rose in September to its highest level since 2021.

It also shows that the U.S. economy *lost* jobs in August, after losing jobs in June.

Prior to this year, we hadn't seen a negative monthly jobs number since 2020.

The US continues to lose manufacturing jobs—payrolls are down 94k over the last year, & another 6k jobs were lost in September

Transportation (especially auto manufacturing) and electronics/electrical manufacturing are the biggest losers, but almost no subsectors are doing well

Republicans enacted the largest cut to health care access in U.S. history, stripping health care coverage from 15 million Americans to pay for tax cuts for the wealthy. And by refusing to extend ACA subsidies, they're raising health insurance costs for 24 million more.

The Trump Administration killed over 383 active clinical trials and directly harmed more than 74,000 Americans with lasting future impacts for the public at large.

Congress has been slow to respond to AI; in the absence of action states are taking the lead to create guardrails and protect the public.

Trump's ban would kill responsible safety reforms to give AI companies a Wild West environment, putting Americans at risk.

A terrible idea.

I signed the discharge petition to force this vote on releasing the Epstein files, which I strongly support. I woke up today with a bad bug, but would've voted yes had my vote been needed for passage. Happy to see it pass nearly unanimously, and I look forward to returning soon.

“Things happen.”

Jamal Khashoggi was a journalist and Washington Post columnist who was literally murdered and dismembered by agents of the Saudi government inside a Saudi consulate.

Shameful. So shameful.
Trump suggests Khashoggi had it coming: "You're mentioning someone that was extremely controversial. A lot of people didn't like that gentleman that you're talking about. Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen. But he knew nothing about it. You don't have to embarrass our guest."

No surprise Trump rolled out the red carpet for MBS.

The Saudis invested billions in Trump family businesses, so giving Saudi Arabia our most advanced fighter aircraft and maybe a NATO-esque security guarantee is the least he could to pay them back.

The corruption is endless.

Trump's retreat from tariffs on coffee, bananas, and other groceries is an admission that his trade wars are driving prices up for the American people.

That is still just as true for the thousands of other goods he's keeping tariffs on!

Republicans refused to fund tax credits to prevent Americans' health care costs, but they snuck in a provision that will give Republican Senators millions of dollars in taxpayer money.

They won't help you, but they'll take your money for themselves. This stinks to high heaven.
