Spring yet?

The problem is I grew up where we only learned 1 language. Not like other parts of the world or the country where they speak 2 or more. As I grow older it is so apparent how much of the world I am missing out on

The owl has been chasing a red squirrel under this log for months. Has not gotten it yet, but the neighbors are letting everyone know it is around. #birds

“Light of Day”, coloured pencil and oil pastel on cotton paper. I used a photo from last year as a reference, but yesterday I saw a different raccoon in the same tree — looking out at a very wintry landscape. #SciArt #WildlifeArt

Did it take long to find me?
I asked the faithful light
Oh, did it take long to find me?
And are you gonna stay the night?

May not be as graceful as a deer, but I did it. If you asked me 2 years ago, I would have doubted I would ever be back on snowshoes, let alone walking these woods

We went snowshoeing today. A little more "artwork" added

-13˚F this morning. Thick ice on the beaver pond and swamp, and then partway up the hill, deep in the woods, water running flowing out of the ground. Does not feel cold, almost tepid. Deer come here to drink all year

woke up to -13˚F today. The past seven days' low temps average -8.5˚F. Four of them are lower than -10˚F. Not the norm.

This morning we had a large flock of Evening Grosbeaks eating fallen sunflower seeds at the feeder. When they flew away it was a golden ball against the white snow. Then this afternoon there have been bald eagles flying right past the window a ew times

Deer are getting hungry with all the deep snow, working a little harder for their food. This one was dancing in front of the trail camera several times. Reminded me of dance, so I had to borrow Waltz of the Flowers by Tchaikovsky. Think I hit the timing at the 30-second mark (sound on).

Even the coyotes are having difficulty getting through this 2 feet of snow. Everything sinks.

The plan was to snowshoe down to the beaver pond to check out a well-worn path in the snow I spotted with the drone. I have decided to wait till the temperature rises a bit more before going.
