We have yet to ride the full bikeway on the QB Bridge without pedestrian still walking there (they have a full lane on the S side of the bridge now)

Markings could be updated overnight, signage reinforced & @nycdot.bsky.social could be doing a lot more to let the public know the bridge has changed

Aggro meathead causes crash on Queensboro Bridge, but it's mostly the DOT's fault for not updating the signage!
bikenewyork.bsky.social
If only DOT had a leader such as a “Commissioner” who could acknowledge a problem or incomplete project & deploy resources to fix it.

A few overnight shifts in this case would likely be enough to update the markings @nyc.streetsblog.org nyc.streetsblog.org/2025/10/10/e...

"It is highly energy-efficient, costs almost nothing, reduces congestion and pollution, and obviates the need for huge car parks. Yet it is not the self-driving electric car, as tech moguls and car industry executives imagined"

By me this week - the happiest thing I've got to report of late, with a glorious trip over the summer to Montreal

There basically is no detour for the actual Chinatown route between the Manhattan & Brooklyn Bridges. We vastly prefer Pike/Allen to chronically blocked Clinton St. For more local trips, there is a somewhat protected 🚲 lane on Ave C @nyc.streetsblog.org
Eyes on the Street: DOT's Greenway 'Detour' is Simply Unsafe for Cyclists - Streetsblog New York City
The greenway alongside the FDR Drive is closed for important resiliency work. But the city's detour is unsafe and unacceptable.

If you like this change to the street, please let Brooklyn CB6 know by emailing [email protected]

I'm on the board and we're already getting some cranky emails. The folks who are using this and benefit from it don't know they have to stand up for good things, so help us stand up for good things.

Rode the new and still in-progress Court Street protected bike lane and it’s already a thing of beauty. Makes such a difference on what used to be a very dangerous street for cycling.

Illegal parking everywhere is the main reason NYC's bike lanes/network always feels so half-assed #bikenyc
cmrestler.bsky.social
Our office released a new study highlighting rampant illegal parking across Downtown Brooklyn. Vehicles block sidewalks, crosswalks, bike lanes & loading zones - making it more dangerous for New Yorkers to get around the neighborhood.

🤔 we can think of a nearby bike network that needs this

Initial reports are coming in about how well the #Hoboken CLEAR parking enforcement is working. How exciting to finally have useable bike lanes and bus stops! Have you ever seen the Washington Street bike lane this clear? 😍

Rode this in August & it was pretty much a double-parking lot

As part of NYC DOT's quarterly Vision Zero update, we highlighted a few recent street redesigns that brought major safety gains. On Schermerhorn St, pedestrian injuries dropped 31% while bike ridership grew 30%. As we've seen all over, bike lanes make streets safer for pedestrians, too.

The number of cyclists using Vanderbilt Avenue dramatically increases during open street hours when there's a safe route for cyclists — evidence that protected space for cyclists must replace the painted bike lanes that drivers often park in.
