And yes I'm still kicky feet giggling about Crosby to McDavid to Mackinnon - it was soooooo good

Saw the Italy v Sweden game last night & the Czechia v Canada game today - both really entertaining games, some obvious line snags still need work but that's to be expected at this early stage. My main thought? F*** Bettman and f*** the owners for keeping the NHL guys out of this for 14 years
February 12, 2026 at 9:56 PM
Am I remembering this right? Did I see something that said Italy were hoping for 17 medals at these games? Well they've reached that before the end of week 1 if so :)

Bummed but not surprised by the Alpine news, someone please hire Ferdy!!
In other news I got my days mixed up & forgot Canada men got underway in the hockey so thank goodness for catch up on the Beeb, that's my evening sorted catching up on what sounded like a good first outing. That #1 line ...

I've been watching this hockey game for 10 minutes and I already want to bitch slap both the commentators. The woman is worse than the man, though he has committed the crime of saying 'Americans' when he meant 'Canadians' which is not ideal in the current global circumstances

Well that's a shocker by the Dutch, but what a way to celebrate your 35th birthday - winning gold at your home games. And it's day 1 and already Italy have the full set with 1 gold, 1 silver & 1 bronze won today ❤️

So... A day the brilliance worked for Franjo, whilst Odi under performed by his standards :( The Italians handled the pressure -Franzoni kept his recent form & Paris is on the Stelvio so duh he got a result, he always does here :)

BTW, away from the O for a second. You know I was talking about idiot fighting in hockey? I give you exhibit A, the game this week between the Panthers and Lightning. Congrats to the officials for keeping track of all the penalties - of which there more more than minutes in the actual game all told

Milano-Cortina that was fab, well done. Love the double flames

San Siro my beloved, I ❤️'d watching my guys boss the shit out of teams on your pitch. And you have the architectural personality that is missing from so many cut & paste stadia nowadays (please god let your replacement be worthy of you!). I'll miss you when you go, but it's time (almost)

And this is what the monologue is from: myshakespeare.com/hamlet/the-s...
"The Strangers' Case" Speech from Sir Thomas More
Love to learn it.

If people wonder why Shakespeare is still taught, read etc ... It's for pieces like this - 400+ years old and as relevant now as then.
Sir Ian McKellen performing a monologue from Shakespeare’s Sir Thomas More on the Stephen Colbert show. Never have I heard this monologue performed with such a keen sense of prescience. Nor have I ever been in this exact historical moment.TY Sir Ian, for reaching us once again.

Been thinking about Lewis' interview at the end of the shakedown. For someone who has been said to v much not like testing he sounded positively giddy, then talking about promo stuff (something no driver likes) and the funny bit when he was teasing about Charles. Hope his positive vibes last :)

Also amused at the fact that (other than 1 American in 3rd), the top ten went Swiss - Italian - Swiss - Italian etc

FRANJO!!!!!
February 1, 2026 at 6:52 PM
My abiding image of him at this point is still when he was what, 5 or so, nutmegging Clarence Seedorf on the pitch at the San Siro in post CL celebrations. Yes I'm THAT old lol

What do you mean Dani has gone to Lazio?? Feels wrong for a Milan boy to be there but good luck to him :)
January 28, 2026 at 11:39 PM
Well that caps a weekend of some seriously shitty results across the sports I follow. Thank goodness for The Cottage (AND Ep 5 - no I've still not recovered). Oh and it may be time to consider if there's a curse for Odi and the Kitzbuhel DH :(

Just checked in with how things are going at Daytona & I'm getting flashbacks to Le Mans a couple of years ago. Then it was rain, now it's the fog but 2 hours under FCY - have we reached the point of shopping lists etc to keep the drivers focused
January 25, 2026 at 8:07 AM
Right I've got snacks, time to start getting ready for Daytona 24 & a trip to The Cottage :)

Also just noticed Ferrari have gone back to shiny paint, having gone with the matt look for a number of years.

Liking the white, not liking the amount of utter fuckwits going 'it broke down' and ignoring the inconvenience of facts.

If nothing is done by the FIA about the rumoured engine 'cheating' by certain OEMs, the season is over before a wheel has been turned. So yeah I'll follow the launch today & be as charmed as ever by the fans and their songs & banners, but that might be as far as my 2026 engagement goes lol

Things you don't expect to see - the Porsches at the back of their grids. Teething trouble with the 911 GT3 Evo maybe? Who knows, but plenty of time to iron out issues if they exist. Something to keep an eye on though. In other news the Triarsi cars are sooooo pretty *sucker for a good paint job*

In news that will surprise absolutely no-one who knows about these things, the social media team over at the DP World Tour have done it again. And a shout out to the spirit of those on the tour for participating. My top 3 (in no particular order) : Tommy & the hairdryer, 'dad' and 'the grumpy twin'
