love pete and am sad about this but also can’t be too mad about this stance because the mets already backed up the brinks truck last year for a better hitter who should be a full-time dh so we don’t really need to lock in a second older one for five more years at huge money. diaz is the bigger loss

love pete and am sad about this but also can’t be too mad about this stance because the mets already backed up the brinks truck last year for a better hitter who should be a full-time dh so we don’t really need to lock in a second older one for five more years at huge money. diaz is the bigger loss

needless to say i’m a lot less excited now that williams is going to be diaz’s replacement instead of helsley’s. metsies are gonna have to find more elite pitchers somewhere
this is similar to the deal the orioles just gave ryan helsley (one extra year but no opt-outs and didn’t guarantee williams the closer job like the o’s did helsley) and even if williams doesn’t get back to full form there’s no chance that he’s worse than helsley was for the mets the last two months
