The history of abolition is so important in these dark days of the republic. They succeeded when enslavers controlled the entire federal government, the Supreme Court, the Electoral College and Congress through the three fifths clause. Join me tonight! www.gilderlehrman.org/itv-registra...

See. I would’ve never known. I’m mad I had no clue and nobody told me this story to empower me when I was young. This is black history right here. Black WOMEN’s history.

The AI boom has created a new type of work: fixing botched AI. Designers are being hired to remake wonky AI art. Writers are asked to make ChatGPT’s writing sound more human. Even software developers are tasked with fixing buggy vibe coding.

I definitely waited outside to see Janet. I should have stayed home and watched her on TV. Hahaha I was too far away from the windows.

Intimate and Interactive was NOT a daily show. It only happened when an artist/band showed up and agreed to a performance.

It was basically MTV unplugged and TRL had a baby.

GOOD TIMES!

MuchMusic was Canada's version of MTV.

Musicians frequently showed up for interviews and performances, and the cameras always panned to the audience on the street.

The videographers frequently went outside and engaged with the public. At the corner of the building, there was a video booth. One dollar, and you could record whatever you wanted for one minute. Speaker's Corner was a Toronto institution. youtu.be/y3fi7ioYxeE?...

However... Intimate and interactive definitely borrowed from MTV's Unplugged.

The difference is that MuchMusic studios were always located in downtown Toronto. From the beginning, CityTV (parent company) had a non-traditional type aesthetic, where the entire building was the studio.

MuchMusic Intimate and Interactive (launched 1991) was CLEARLY the inspiration for MTV 's Total Request Live (launched 1998).
