Sadly the ninth and final child of 2x Great Grandparents Daniel HOLMANS and Jane did not live very long and died on 08-Dec-1907 in Capel-le-Ferne, Kent, England.

Born on 13-Nov-1907 and baptised on 22-Nov-1907 so looks like he only lived for about 25 days. Records obtained from Ancestry.

Can anyone help shed light on background to the following please.

English bloke living in Newport, Rhode Island joins the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force at Montreal, Québec in Oct-1918.

Was it that the USA wouldn't want him at that time?

Seeing the notifications about the Thrulines on Ancestry update thought I'd have a look. Got a suggestion for my missing 3x GGrandfather.

See what everyone means now when you can't turn round and go the husband of my 3x GGrandmother is NOT my 3x GGrandfather however much you write it Ancestry. 😒

#52Ancestors prompt this week is Written. Very difficult to know what to put for this one actually.

Perhaps just to acknowledge the small scraps of information that family and friend have jotted down or cuttings from papers held which give a real jumping off point for further investigation.

Every day is a school day. I learned today that an Irish mile was longer than an English one with the Irish one measuring 2240 yards compared with 1760 for English and the Irish mile was used legally until 1826.

Getting many spam messages on my website currently (WordPress). Found a plug in which meant to restrict them so only able to comment if physically on the page but had two more in this morning. May just be a not set up right situ but if they've found a workaround then other ideas welcomed. Thanks.

Not a nice drive today. Started with a lorry that couldn't seem to stay on the right side of road, then as we came up to lights where road widens to two lanes I moved into right one, it then moved over, then back, then through two red lights. Hadn't even travelled five miles at this point. 😞
