4 Curlew Sandpiper at Davidstow Airfield today #cornwallbirding
It's not always easy to get good views of Yellow Wagtails in Cornwall. So pleasing to see at least 2 up close at Siblyback yesterday. Right hand bird showing some characteristics of flava subspecies (whiter throat, longer white supercilium) #cornwallbirding
An estimated 161 Sabine's Gull's have passed our headlands so far this year!

This is already the 3rd highest total in history. Behind 192 in 1988 and 250 in 1983

Please do email any records to [email protected] or myself at [email protected] #cornwallbirding
Wood Sandpiper at Treraven Meadows near Wadebridge this evening @cornwallbirding
Fingers crossed you get one soon Pete. Seems to be an influx and wouldn't be surprised if one passed Rame Head 🤞🤞
Great seawatching at Porthgwarra today with Reuben, Martin E , Paul St P, Mark W and Mike McKee. Hundreds of Large Shearwaters , 8-9 sightings of Wilson's Petrel , Black Tern, Arctic Terns , Bonxies etc etc . Highlight for me were close views of 4 adult Long-tailed Skua #cornwallbirding
Quick seawatch at lizard point this afternoon with Tony B , Great Shearwater, pale phase Arctic Skua, 3 juv Yellow-legged Gull , 2 juvenile Med Gull #Cornwallbirding
Stonking adult American Golden Plover flew low / east , calling over Porth Joke at 7:25pm this evening. Interestingly the 3rd adult I've found in Cornwall over the years ( other two at Crowdy and Nanjizal ) #cornwallbirding
No I don't! It's still officially a county rarity (but probably not for long, as I use BBRC style 10 year rolling average to judge that status) But we have an unwritten rule where during influxes, records can get accepted if observers have previous experience with the species .

Wouldn't mind betting this is the furthest south a Red Grouse has been seen in the UK today. Don't think there's many left on Dartmoor, so stumbling upon this one with @bobbosisto.bsky.social during an eight mile walk this morning was a real thrill! Amazing views too #ukbirding
Well done Robin ! Excellent to see they've bred again

Two new first summer ♂ Red-footed Falcons found this afternoon at Gwynver / Nanquidno Downs. There’s likely been up to nine individuals in Cornwall this week. The two pics below are the same bird and show retained juv feathers.

A great find by K Neal.

adult summer Azores Gull at Newlyn harbour, Cornwall this afternoon. Compare the upper mandible scarring with birdguides.com/gallery/bird... and P4 markings with birdguides.com/gallery/bird.... In the field, felt darker with more black in outer-wing than Thames Yellow-legged Gulls. #cornwallbirding
Two year ticks at Chaple Amble this evening . A Hobby feeding over the reedbed and a singing Sedge Warbler #cornwallbirding
Pallid Swift from St Mary’s ; Isles of Scilly today . Highlight from today’s day trip . Thankyou to Bob Dawson for the lift and good to see Keith Pellow and some of the locals enjoying great views as it fed over Higher Lanes & Maypole triangle
Good job you didn’t wait until today !
Migrants coasting in the brisk easterly winds at Park Head this morning . Highlight was this Hoopoe, seen flying in on the sea , pitching in for a couple of minutes and then heading west . A Common Redstart did the exact same thing moments earlier. Birding at its best! #cornwallbirding #birdguides
Adult Night Heron (flew into Middle Amble reserve at circa 18:25pm) , 5 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Water Pipit at Chaple Amble this evening #cornwallbirding
Alpine Accentor from Aire Point; Nanquidno this evening . A great find by Raoul Humphries . Never dreamt of seeing one In Cornwall! #cornwallbirding
Ashy-headed Wagtail at Pendeen showed superbly between 2pm and 3pm . A great find by Graham Lawlor in what has been an unprecedented arrival of continental race Yellow Wagtails in the south west this weekend. Especially considering it’s March !
I heard it call once this afternoon but failed to sound record it sadly . Raspy call and just like examples of cinereocapilla on xeno canto
