I just updated this post on my ThisDayinQuotescom blog about the saying "Eternal vigilance is the price of liberty." As I note in the post, contrary to the common attribution, Thomas Jefferson didn't say it. But I do think he'd agree with the point it makes. And, it seems as relevant now as ever...

I rewatched THE DIRTY DOZEN recently and it reminded me that the concept for that film was inspired by the story "The Filthy Thirteen" by Arch Whitehouse in TRUE, Oct. 1944, which we reprinted in the MEN'S ADVENTURE QUARTERLY #5, the Dirty Missions issue (amzn.to/4jWMvyU). Cover art by Rico Tomaso.

Jan. 15, 2026 is writer Robert Silverberg’s 91st birthday! Bob is best known for his science fiction novels work, but he also wrote great stories for men's adventure magazines. You can read some in EXOTIC ADVENTURES OF ROBERT SILVERBERG (amzn.to/3xqiVce), which I co-edited with Bob and Wyatt Doyle.
