The Small Hours is the darkest part of night, right before dawn.

It's also the title of my upcoming vampire novel.
It's funny, sexy, and very, very bloody.

A modern-day splatterpunk.

I am the chill that's in the air

Currently reading Hill's KING SORROW, which is really good so far, as well as THE SAINT OF BRIGHT DOORS by Vajra Chandrasekera, which is one of those books that as soon as I read the first page, I was hooked.

This time of year is always rough for me due to my retail job. The hours are long, the customers are ... well, they're customers, people just trying to buy shit. I basically have one month of retail Hell beginning tomorrow through the day after Christmas. I hate the work, love the paycheck.

The anti AI post:

I abhor AI. It may have some uses outside of writing, but it has no place in the creative ecosystem. Fiction is a wholly human endeavor. Story can be a product, or "content", but it is always art made by a human.

AI, not human, "artificial" as the name implies, cannot make art.

Instantly recognizable, and no matter the role, Kier never disappointed. A fucking legend ... RIP
Udo Kier has passed away at 81. A singular screen presence, Kier had a long history in the horror genre, starring in films including Mark of the Devil, Andy Warhol's Frankenstein, Blood for Dracula, Blade, Feardotcom, Rob Zombie's Halloween, and Dario Argento's Mother of Tears.

Maybe it's because I've been digesting so much of another cultures mythology (Ghost of Yōtei), but my visual interpretation of folklore, magick, and ritual has changed. I used to think of occult ritual in terms of black and shades of grey. Now I visualize it as colorful, often bright and loud.
