The Small Hours is the darkest part of night, right before dawn.

It's also the title of my upcoming vampire novel.
It's funny, sexy, and very, very bloody.

A modern-day splatterpunk.

You cannot touch me, you would not dare
I am the chill that's in the air

My next novella is coming out on November 22nd! This is cosmic horror. No gore, no slashers, but LOTS of weird monsters, sea-gods, and even an ancient kingdom filled with fish-people! If you're looking for something Lovecraftian to read this winter, keep your eyes peeled for OUR SARNATH!

31 DAYS OF HALLOWEEN

Day 10

Alfred Hitchcock's MONSTER MUSEUM

One of the first books I read with somewhat "adult" stories at a young age. Features The Day of the Dragon by Guy Endore, The Young One by Jerome Bixby, and Homecoming by Ray Bradbury.

Tonights viewing of Monster was something else. The Texas Chainsaw Massacre stuff was cool as hell, but the Gein stuff was so inaccurate it was laughable. If it wasn't for all the cool "influenced by" stuff I would have quit it already, but I dig the hell out of that kind of stuff.

Playing Ghost of Yōtei in Takashi Miike mode is pretty sweet, though it is not good for defense when facing multiple enemies. It's very visceral, with more abundant blood splatter and spray.

Day 9

THE LEGEND OF HELL HOUSE

Another great film I saw way too young that creeped me out and left a lasting imprint on my creative soul.

As terrible as things are, I still think this current administration are some of the goofiest losers ever gathered together. Like, some of this stuff is farcical Dr. Evil/Snidley Whiplash/Fearless Leader level villainy doomed to fail.

When? Well, not soon enough, but yeah ... doomed to fail.

Get the book that early readers say "I received an advance review copy for free"

Er ... wait ...

How about: "Pastorella’s pacing is killer, Willi rules, and the oyster scene is an all-timer metaphor for how monsters eat us with a smile."

THE SMALL HOURS.

Get it: ghoulish.rip/product/the-...

Day 8

BURNT OFFERINGS

Another film I saw way too young that creeped me the fuck out. Stellar performances all around and a film that isn't afraid to embrace the strange and weird that still works today.

I've had some hellacious hours at the daily grind this past week, but thankfully I have the next 2 days off and vacation all next week. Going to get back in the saddle with my next project. Not gonna lie, it felt good to step away from the keyboard to recharge.

We do not need another TRON movie, but I will always take more NIN music.

Will Christopher Baer is reviving his twitter account and unleashing hell in short burst form. I'm not on twitter, thinking of maybe creating a burner account just to read Baer's posts, which will be the best fucking thing ever written on twitter because Baer fucking rocks.

One week into Halloween Season, so here's your reminder that I wrote a slasher novel about teenagers trying to pull a quick heist who find a masked killer waiting in the basement of a mansion.

It's fun, it's scary, and it needs a good home.

I feel like people should have realized this about the time the "sexing Gein up" posts started before the series debuted. Murphy isn't interested in facts, more interested in using lurid details to tell an entertaining story ... and make up the rest of it along the way.

Seeing people complain the Monster: Ed Gein series isn't accurate.

No shit. It's the same team that created American Horror Story. I think of it as a meta adaptation of Psycho. I'm not done watching it, only 2 eps. in, but so far it's entertaining. If you want accurate, read DEVIANT.
