Yup, fell off the edge of the planet again...life, work, kids, house...the usual culprits. But here is my May Book List - No banned books this month, though I've seen "The Magicians" on a couple random lists. My personal favorite this month was "Illuminae". SO GOOD!!!!

April is done, on to May! Tried to pull in a banned book...will continue to do that each month, I think. I just got a load of them, second-hand. The Scholomance series is now a personal favorite! A female MC who expects you to dislike her, and yet you don't. So good I had to read the first two!

Took my team of EAs to a local indie bookstore today to show how much I appreciate them, then to lunch. Only bought one book, growth or a shame? Hard to tell. Here are a few I didn’t buy but I’m adding to my list!!

I've read 21 books since January 1st. Now, you may say "Wow, that's a lot!" or you may say "Oh, is that all?" And you are completely right! This ADHDer reads 4 at a time to keep herself interested. That is NOT everyone's cup of espresso. If you're reading, you're winning!

જ⁀➴ Would you rather read one long (900ish-pages) book or three shorter (300-ish pages) books?

March book review time!
All were quite good. Favorite was "Yellowface" by R.F. Kuang. It had me hating the MC, then commiserating with her, then siding with her, then hating her again. Made me question myself as an ally. And then my response to the MC made me question myself again!

Oooooh! Storygraph gave me this great new chart to see my monthly progress! I love it!

Still working on my little WIP…the characters are whispering things, telling me a little more about who’s going to join them, adding a bit more spark and cozy…and I opened up about it to someone and they got excited and asked to be a beta reader. Now I’m feeling all shy and stuff!

Celebrated a child’s basketball win with a trip to the bookstore. We each got 3. She begged for more. “But I’ll never have enough time to read all of them!” Same child….same.

March is a good one for me! My goals are 4 books again, though I’m up 4 from my yearly goal. 1 will be placed in Australia, some additional fantasy I’ve been putting aside, and 2 self-dev books.

Books arrived! Used nonfiction thanks to World of Books! So excited to add them to my collection and TBR list! Any look good to you? Which should I read first?

February was a heavy fiction month for me. Mostly because the nonfiction I've been reading were SO LONG that I'm still reading them...may finish this week, cross your fingers. But holy cow was February good! I highly recommend almost all the books I read. My only caveat is "Neon Gods" is a bit 🌶️🌶️🌶️

I did a bad thing today...I bought more books. This time they were all non-fiction books. I feel like that should matter. They're all about expanding my mind and my health. So its an investment in me and my future. That's what I'll tell my wife. And they were all used, and I got them on sale!

January Book Reviews:
February 19, 2025 at 8:09 PM
My Wife: You have too many books for that bookcase, it looks cluttered.
Me: It's a good thing I have another bookcase downstairs...but then I won't have enough books to fill them both.
My Wife: I guess you'll need more books.
Me: 20 years in and you still know what to say to get me excited.

Did someone say “buy physical copies of banned books”? No, yes? Is this a good start?

As an experiment I'm trying the 20 BOOKS CHALLENGE.
Choose 20 books that have stayed with you or influenced you. One book per day for 20 days, in no particular order. No explanations, no reviews, just covers.

Has anyone else used WorldofBooks.com to order from before? My ship tracker still says USPS doesn't have the package yet, its been 3 days. Is this usual? Their site is less than helpful, as is their customer service.
Any experience with this?
