We just travelled thru summer in Europe. If you book far enough ahead you can save. Europe Airbnb is way cheaper than North America and discounts when booked far ahead and for more than a few days. No extra fees like vrbo.
For context, our flight to Dublin was July 3rd.

I'm currently travelling world with family after 5yrs of planning. You win when you book ahead, research and become flexible. We flew Toronto to Dublin for $400/each on air Transat. The catch is luggage. Travel light and you save. Once in country use regional airlines as they are much cheaper.
