Bike touring, spearfishing, skiing, gardening, and homelabs cure my existentialism. I write code and tinker for income.

Plenty of politicians on both sides of the aisle feel threatened by rising class consciousness.

There's plenty of space. We just give all of it to cars.

Think my avocado grafts are gonna take this season. I got Aravaipa and Mexicola pushing on this rootstock I grew from seed. The former is supposed to be the hardiest variety known. Got lots of other grafts pushing too on my persimmons, pear, and apple trees.

My new hobby is buying cheap physical media as a way to get me on my bicycle and to avoid paying for more than a single streaming service. I then rip that media and host it on my server with Jellyfin.

Time for another digital security PSA with guitar … here’s “All the Small Things” but it’s about scrubbing metadata from your photos before you post them 🤘

I love his point on ODOT using a "credit card" to transfer money that would go into road maintenance but instead has to go towards repaying bonds issued to fund these vanity mega projects.

Timid is a nice way to say it. I'd call him, and most of the party, old out of touch greedy cowards. If you ain't representing us and ain't fighting what the fuck are you there for? I'm so tired of the useless high road when we have fascists trying to destroy us.

Officially peddled through my first bottom bracket. Started feeling it under my foot yesterday at mile 50, and it made it thirteen more miles before I got to a train to take me home.

I'm in PDX, and so far, I've taken the train to San Fransico, biked to Mexico, and then took the train back from LA. I've also biked to Eugene and Seattle and then took the train home. This summer, I'm planning a Mt. Vernon trip to the North Cascades and going to a lookout tower starting in Eugene.

I loved reading this! I've also fallen in love with Amtrak, both as a tool and as its own experience.

It's truly a parade now, but that's OK. The more people we get on bikes, the better!

Loved seeing all the new tall bikes and other unique builds.

If I remember correctly, there was a haphazard reintroduction a few decades ago in California, Washington, and Oregon. The otters in Oregon didn't make it. Thankfully, there is another effort underway in Oregon to introduce them again, but this time, with lots more knowledge and tracking tech.

What a weekend. Two fun dives at Sunset Bay and Port Orford. The latter was fantastic, such good visibility! Saw a whale right after I got out of the water.

Bummer to see so many urchin, though. We really need our otters and sunstars back asap.

Got tailscale running in minutes in an unprivilege Ubuntu lxc, and it's working flawlessly, letting me remote into my server over the vpn. I feel a little silly having tried to get Wiregaurd working for so long!

Rangpur limes and variegated Nagami Kumquats going strong. Citrus in the PNW is totally viable.

A quick two day, ~400km tour over the warm spell. Always a blast to ride my bike to the coast. I loved seeing all the waterfalls you normally miss zipping past in a car.
