Yeah I'm kinda surprised at how much AI garbage I'm seeing

I really like Kula! For me it would be May from Guilty Gear and Dhalsim from Street Fighter. Very different to each other, but I always look for someone similar to one of those in any game I play.

Wrapper, American, 1840

The pattern is lovely/bonkers, and the form is new to me.
Seems these were worn around the house, over all your undergarments, before putting on a proper dress later in the day. Opens down the front, so easy to put on & off.

#fashionhistory #fashionsky #dresshistory #TheMet
Hard to describe. The photo shows a mannequin wearing a full length dress. Think of a modern dressing gown in function - soft material, opens all down the front, tied at the waist. But in the form of a mid 19th century dress. So full length sleeves, a high neckline, extremely wide flaring skirt to accommodate petticoats/hoops/etc. I literally don't have the right words to describe the pattern, but the overall effect is of gold fabric, embellished with patterns in red and brown. There are two broad panels of pale blue either side of the front opening, both also with the same pattern. A very warming colour scheme.

Been playing fighting games a long time, and i think there's something particularly tilting about SF6. I love it, but i get way more stressed than usual playing it.

My kid put together a tier list of who she'd date in Street Fighter 6. I'd be slightly alarmed to see JP, gotta say!

#streetfighter #FGC
A tier list, positioning Rashid and Kimberly as husband/ wife material, and characters such as Terry, Ken and Akuma in the lowest category.

Great excitement in our house today, with a new mini-album from i-dle releasing. I think its their first in Japanese? Title track is a really lovely, nostalgic feeling pop song.

It's good I know this is a game, cos otherwise it would closely resemble writings of a madman

Silk dress, American, 1837

The colour of this is fantastic - I wonder was it even more vibrant when it was made? I like the wide neckline, and the dropped gigot sleeves was the fashion that year (according to @achronalart.bsky.social , thanks!).

#fashionhistory #dresshistory #fashionsky #TheMet
A deep red evening dress, 1837. It has a wide neckline, roughly level with the collarbones, with crenelated detailing. The sleeves are full length, with very large gigot puffs at the elbows. The waist is narrow, with the full length skirt flaring out in each direction.

Damn, well done all of you, that's amazing!

This is a nice card, I've never seen that deck before

I dunno why this is so real but you're 100% right

Thrilled with this. I've wanted to learn JP for ages cos my daughter loves him, so it was great to finally be able to put it all together and hit Master rank.

No this is great, thank you! A video that refers to written sources is ideal 😁 really appreciate it

Oh wow, that's really cool, thanks! I actually need to find some books and learn more about all this stuff. People very kindly recommended youtube channels a while back, but I find it hard to learn that way.

Children's dress, American, 1837

Really fun to see this style in a children's size. The gigot sleeves seem a bit lower than usual, and my impression is that the v-shaping on the bodice was becoming a thing around this period. Lovely dress.

#fashionhistory #dresshistory #fashionsky #TheMet
Mannequin modelling a children's dress.
Its in white, with very thin, vertical blue pin stripes, and a small repeating blue detail through the dress. The skirt is full length and quite full, flowing out of a high waist. The bodice is sewn with V-shaped effect, suggesting a tapering towards the waist The sleeves have very large puffs, starting a few inches down the upper arm, and continuing to the wrists.

This beautiful glass bowl looks modern, yet it’s about 2,250 years old! 🤩

Made using an innovative technique in which thin threads of twisted glass were spiralled over a convex mould. Wonderful example of the skill of ancient artisans!

My photo shows a Hellenistic hemispherical yellow glass bowl measuring 12.8 cm in diameter and 7 cm in height. A reflection of the bowl can be seen in the display case glass behind.
The bowl is composed of thin threads of colourless, opaque yellow, and dark purple glass, twisted together and then spiralled around a convex mould. Scholars refer to this type of mosaic glassware as a ‘network’ vessel. Dated 270-246 BC, it was found at Canosa di Puglia in Italy, which at that time was a Hellenistic Greek colony. It was in fragments when found, and has since been reconstructed, with 15% of the reconstruction made of modern material. Place of manufacture eastern Mediterranean. Part of the collections at Landesmuseum Württemberg, Stuttgart, Germany.

Agree. Immigrants are a convenient scapegoat to increase their control of everyone (and to signal how 'tough' they are, etc).
