Its a symptom of wider social behaviour too. The "it was hard for me, so now I'll brutalise my students in turn" vibe you see in gymnastics, ballet, academia, etc. Means we should be setting a better example though.

Kind of opposite trajectory, same endpoint. I was never too into SNK games, but literally everything about COTW was what I wanted from a game. And then the last year happened!

My kid and I pretty much only play the Sims and fighting games, so we are really feeling the influence of the Saudi govt these days. Sims will go down the toilet real soon, I imagine.

I know a good traditional song about Gráinne Mhaol / Granuaile (spellings vary) - Óró sé do Bheatha 'Bhaile.
Tells of some of her exploits. I assume there are recordings of it online, though I only know it to sing unaccompanied.
